Barren

These timelapses are mostly from a trek from Lamayuru to Chiling in the north Indian Himalayas of Ladakh. Lamayuru has been dubbed ‘Moon Land’ by tourists because of its lunar landscape.

The play of light and shadow on the dry mountains of Ladakh reminds me of the distant planets that the Starship Enterprise visited. Everything about this landscape seems fictional, like Mars created by an AI image generator. Yet, despite the magical alpine deserts, the best thing about Ladakh are its people. Like the landscape, they are alien-like in their nicety.
