Sitting at a desk job that had long lost its sheen, I remember looking at photographs of the Scottish Highlands and building castles in the air. At the time, the verdant lochs, trails, and ruins of the Highlands might as well have been from another planet. I developed itchy feet by looking at photos of landscapes - the wider the better - and at some point decided to make my own, at first emulating those I admired and then leaning towards a style that gave me comfort and delight. What resonated with me then, and resonates still, are wide unpeopled landscapes and seascapes that portray nature at its purest. An enduring aspiration to reach uncharted territories takes me on long, often unplanned hikes in distant lands.

Since photos stirred me to travel, I try to make photos that stir others.
